Why does America have separate states?
America has separate states because the states handle minor problems that the federal government doesn’t. The states also handle everyday problems you have. Like driver's license, vehicle registration, and birth certificates. Also all the power not specifically given to the federal government is retained by the states. This way the federal government cannot have too much power because the states have their own rights. This is called checks and balances.
