Who takes care of what?Federalism is a division of power. In this chart you can see how our government representatives federalism. There are three main powers in the nation. The federal government, the state government, and the local government. The power of the nation is divided between government, so one is not too powerful. That is why this chart shows federalism. Because you can see the division of power in our nation between the governments, and the jobs that they do. Each form of government has jobs to do. The federal government handles the most major issues, like safe travels and national security. The state government is the next step down. They handle more common things, like when you get your driver's license or getting well. Finally the local government. They handle day to day things, like trash pick up and electricity. Even though one form or government has a bigger job than the other, each form of government has power. That is federalism. A division in power. And that is what this chart represents.
